ACCESS Standing and Ad Hoc Committees

ACCESS has several standing committees and some ad hoc committees which serve to support the organization, membership, and Board of Directors. Members are encouraged to become involved in any of these committees. Please contact the committee Chair or coordinating Vice President for additional information about how to serve on a committee.

Shared Knowledge in Practice (SKiP)

Under the coordination of the VP of Professional Development, the SKiP Committee serves to create opportunities for members to network and share resources related to teaching early childhood education in associate degree programs. The committee plans and implements virtual and in-person meetings, which include discussions, webinars, guest speakers, etc. of interest to members and other faculty members teaching in associate degree early childhood programs.

Mini-Grants for Accreditation

The Accreditation Mini-Grant Committee considers applications from states working on ECADA Accreditation who are requesting assistance from ACCESS. Grants of $250 are awarded for activities such as:

  • Application Fees
  • A "Conceptual Framework Luncheon" for your advisory board
  • Purchasing needed student resources
  • Obtaining a trainer/consultant for your faculty with regard to assessment

Social Committee

The Social Committee is responsible for arranging refreshments and decorations for ACCESS events and meetings such as the two training days.

Teacher Research Committee

This committee focuses ACCESS efforts in the area of Teacher Research, including sharing resources, professional development opportunities, and communication.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee convenes annually for the purpose of developing a slate of candidates for election to vacant offices on the Board of Directors. According to the bylaws, the Nominating Committee consists of the Past-President or President-Elect (alternating years), and two (2) members appointed by the President and approved by the Executive Committee. The committee issues a call for nominations (print or electronic) and nominates at least one (1) individual for each vacant office of the Executive Committee.

Communications Committee

Under the coordination of the VP of Communication, the Communications Committee serves to support effective communication with the membership and larger community. Committee members may be involved in assisting with the electronic newsletter, the website, and social networking such as facebook.
